South Texas

South Texas is the southernmost tip of the American Great Plains region, characterized by semi-arid ranching land. Its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico ensures relatively warm climate all year, with hot and humid summers. Prone to hurricanes and flooding, South Texas’ Rio Grande Valley experienced natural disasters such as Hurricane Beulah in 1967. While tornadoes have been recorded in this region, it is a rare occurrence.
