Southeast Texas

The eastern region of Texas has a humid subtropical climate, receiving the most rainfall in the state. More than 60 inches of precipitation falls annually, as gulf current carries humid air to the area. The wettest months of the year are April and May, and are often times of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. The region was previously affected by hurricanes such at the Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900 and more recently by Hurricane Ike in 2008.
